63-Year-Old HIV Patient Sentenced To Death by Stoning for Raping, Infecting 12-Year-Old Girl

An Upper Sharia court in Kogi state on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 sentenced to death by stoning a 63-year-old HIV positive, Ubale Saidu Dotsa for raping and infecting a minor with the deadly virus.

Dotsa was found guilty by the court following incontrovertible evidence tendered by the prosecution counsel for raping Hauwa Muhammad.

Report has it that; Saidu, who has been standing trial over the last two months for raping a 12-year-old (names withheld), confessed to have raped her at Dotsa village in Kumbotso, a suburb of Kano, after inducement.

Medical report tendered by the prosecution counsel indicated that the Primary 6 pupil has been inflicted with the deadly virus after the forceful penetration by Ubale.

Ubale is said to being living with HIV in the last two years. He lost his first and second wives to same virus in 2011. According to record before the court, the wives died in six month interval.

Delivering the judgment, Khadi Faruq Ahmed further ordered that N36 million be paid as compensation to the parents of Hauwa Mohammed if their daughter eventually dies.

Khadi Farouq also directed that the judgment should be forwarded to the Ministry of Justice which is expected to forward same to Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for assent.
