New customers
of leading financial institution, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) are now
opening savings accounts with ease in the comfort of their homes, offices, or
on the go via their computers or mobile devices following the recent
introduction of the bank’s online account opening platform. The launch of the
platform coincides with the introduction of a new product called, ‘the
e-savings account’. The new account is an online based savings account which
enables prospective customers to complete their account opening process with
FCMB without the need to fill out any physical form(s) or visit a branch.
In a
statement, the Bank explained that this exciting new innovation was designed
with the aim of utilising technology to reduce the time it takes to open an
account whilst also improving customer service and customer experience. The
platform effectively extends the bank’s e-business offering by enabling new
customers to open accounts. Existing customers already have access to various
electronic banking services, including online banking, mobile banking and a
range of international cards.
Interestingly,
FCMB has made the online platform accessible to consumers via its official
website www.fcmb.com as well as the official Facebook page
www.facebook.com/fcmb where online fans have frequently enquired and waited
patiently for the launch of the bank’s virtual branch. Although the platform
currently offers just one savings product, the Bank has informed that other
types of accounts will soon be made available to give consumers the opportunity
to select the right type of account for their banking needs. The FCMB e-savings
account is unique as all that consumers simply need to do is to fill out a
short form, which is both on the Bank’s website and Facebook page, and upload a
recent digital passport photograph. If the information submitted passes the
bank’s due process checks the customer is then provided with an account number
within minutes of completion and submission of the form.
Speaking on
this unique initiative, the Head of Retail Banking of FCMB, Mr. Olu Akanmu,
said, “we are proud to introduce the new online account opening platform to
complement our wide range of value-added offerings. This new service provides
customers with a fast, reliable, less cumbersome and convenient method of commencing
a banking relationship through our corporate website and Facebook page”.
He explained
that what the platform offers amongst other advantages is cost effectiveness
for both the customers and the bank, ‘’as well as exposing our potential and
existing customers to FCMB’s reliable and convenient alternative banking channels’’, such as debit
cards, mobile banking, ATM etc. “This is in line with our commitment to bring
excellent banking services closer to all segments of the society, drive
financial inclusion whilst enhancing customer experience via social media’’,
Mr. Akanmu added.
First City
Monument Bank Limited is a member of FCMB Group Plc, which is one of the
leading financial services institutions in Nigeria with subsidiaries that are
market leaders in their respective segments. Having successfully transformed to
a retail and commercial banking-led group, FCMB expects to continue to
distinguish itself by delivering exceptional services, while enhancing the
growth and achievement of personal and business aspirations of its customers.
