Fast rising movie star, Miram “Mimi” Orjiekwe has won the award for the best new face in Nollywood at the annual African Film Development awards. The award ceremony held on June 19th 2014, during the 17th edition of Zanzibar International Film festival in Tanzania. According to the organiser of the awards/festival, Mr. Mykel Parish, Mimi was bestowed with the award based on her extraordinary display of talent in the movie, Mission to Grave. Veteran movie producer, Andy Boyo also won the award for best Africa movie producer with his latest effort, Cobra. Peace Anyiam, the organiser of Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) was honoured with a special recognition awards for her contribution to the growth of African Cinema while Richard Mofe Damijo got a lifetime achievement awards.

   Africa Films Developemt awards is a project of Africa Film Development foundation aimed at celebrating and recognising outstanding individuals and bodies who have contributed towards the development of African movies. Speaking on her new award Mimi, a business administration graduate of Carista University says “I am excited about it. I have won couple of awards but this feels special. I am challenged to do better and want to say a big thank you to my fans for their support.”
