Speaker Kwara State House of Assembly, Honourable-Rasak-Atunwa
The Kwara State House of Assembly on Saturday announced the death of one of its legislators and Chairman, House Committee on Public Petition, Alhaji Haliru ldris.
A statement signed by the Special Assistant to the Speaker on Media Affairs, Alhaji AbdulRahman Sanni, indicated that the legislator died in the early hours of today, Saturday 7th June, 2014 in llorin, aged 48.
The statement said late Idris, representing Kaiama Constituency, is survived by his aged father, Sen Haliru Idris, wives and children.
It said the legislator had been buried in accordance to Islamic injunctions, at the Muslim Cemetery in Ilorin.
In his remarks while on a condolence visit, Speaker of the House, Honourable Rasak Atunwa, described the deceased as “a humble, articulate, generous and committed legislator”, who devoted his time to the service of God and humanity.
Atunwa urged the family to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived a useful and fulfilled life.
He prayed Allah to grant the Emir of Kaiama and the family of Idris the fortitude to bear the loss.

Responding on behalf of the family, a one-time Commissioner for Finance in the state, Alhaji Nurudeen Muhammed, thanked the speaker for his concern and prayed God to reward him abundantly.
